2019 Home Trend Predictions

Hi guys! It's that time of year again. Today we're rounding up a few home trends that we think we will be seeing lots of in 2019, whether they're continued from last year, or new to the scene! Click here to read what we predicted for 2018, or keep scrolling to see what I think about this year!

MODERNIZED CLASSICS.

One of the things that I know I'll be incorporating more into my home is adding more modern takes on traditional décor. One of my personal favorite posts from last year was that photo from Christmas where I decorated my bed, and I think it's the balance of modern-y end table with the traditional looking orange strand and the Modigliani print

DARK, VELVETY GREEN.

A few months ago I saw a post on Emily Henderson talking all about dark green walls and how they were "the new gray" I think is what it said. Now, I don't think that I'm going to be painting my walls this shade, but I definitely can picture some velvety curtains, pillows, and throws in a dark and moody green.

Can't you just picture white walls behind dark green fabric that gracefully drapes to the floor, pulled back and letting some light flow in as the sun rises. The perfect setting for a morning cup of coffee on the couch if you ask me!

RICH COLOR PALETTES

Along the same lines as that dark green, I think that we'll be seeing lots of richly colored accents this year. As popular as whites and neutrals have been for so long, I think people are starting to crave pops of color. And jewel-tones are a classic that you can add in to make a huge statement in a reserved way.

BLACK AND WHITE

Not to say that neutrals and black/white décor are going anywhere though. I've seen a lot of fashion bloggers suggesting monochrome outfits lately, and I think #whywhiteworks will still be going strong in 2019! I love my white walls in the living room, the neutral lets me play around with the objects IN the room, and letting the styled space take the focus, which is both lots of fun AND it lets you change little accents in the room to make a big impact! (A big change from my bedroom plan for this year, which is to let the walls take the main stage, and my furniture play the supporting role)

VINTAGE FRENCH LIBRARY/BAR/ART STUDIO AESTHETIC.

I'm not sure how, but I'm going to make this a thing. I think I'll start by bringing in some earthy fragrances like leather, tobacco, whiskey, or patchouli, but also incorporating some citrus-scents to balance it out. Also, balancing shadows and playing with dark spaces and old-world accents, maybe?

That's all I've got for now! I'm really really excited to see how my picks match up with the trends we see in the new year! What do you think will be big?

I think we need to come up with a hashtag where y'all can tag me in your designs for the next year! I'd love to see if yall use any of these elements. Anyone good at coming up with hashtags?
