Home Update!

Hi everyone! It has been a crazy few months.  My floors are finally in and i'm in the process of moving furniture back !

I decided to break up the full home reno recap and reveal into two posts! So this one is a recap in case you're new to the little bleu community & missed the first post!

On July 5, I got home from my amazing two week trip to Canada(Quebec, New Brunswick, & Nova Scotia) to find my refrigerator hose spraying water all over the kitchen floors! Click here to read more on What To do if Your Kitchen Floods while You're Out of Town

The pool of water reached all the way across the kitchen, which was especially problematic because my kitchen floors were the original hardwoods that were installed in 1952. The water damage had also spread into the dining room, and up in to the walls behind my refrigerator and my oven.

On July 7, a team came out and took up all the laminate flooring that had been in the dining room, as well as half of the kitchen flooring, and they set up about 12 fans and a dehumidifier to dry everything out.

Fast forward to August & September, after a whole ordeal with the insurance folks being pretty unhelpful and it taking almost two months for the claim to go through, we finally got the go ahead to work with a local flooring company and start putting floors in the house!

Thankfully I had other places to stay during the whole process, because from July 7 through September 12, there was no way to walk on the floors without risking splinters or stepping on some (really cool) old rusty nails from the original floors! (Project with those coming soon!)

& Scroll all the way down for a look at the Design Board for planning the kitchen project!

I kind of planned everything around the backsplash, since it was already there and I love the different shades it incorporates!
