The One About / Landscapes.
If you feel unsteady, look at the horizon.
The last few years in my painting practice I made a shift from abstracted landscapes to more concrete feeling landscapes and I’m pretty sure it’s my brain’s way of coping with 2020.
As an Art historian with a painting degree that wound up working in the ER, I had a pretty steep introduction to death and sickness and had to quickly learn to cope with those things and became rather good at leaving work at work when I walked through the doors to come home. But this year it’s been a little different. I think the stress of this year (pandemically, and not) has my brain wanting to make something steady.
